Slow Cooker Italian Beef

Ingredients
- 3-4 lbs chuck roast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Accent (MSG)
- 1 tsp parsley
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 0.7 oz Italian dressing mix 1 packet
- 3 cups beef broth or Au Jus packet with 3 cups water
- 4 pickled peppers banana or pepperoncini peppers
- 1/4 cup juice from pickled peppers
- 2 tbsp Giardiniera optional
- 3/4 cup red wine 1 mini bottle
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Season roast with salt and pepper.
- Sear roast in crock pot with torch or in skillet. In the crock pot with a torch is preferred so you don't lose any juices. The point is to create flavor with the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maillard_reaction">Maillard reaction</a>, not to cook it.
- Place roast in crock pot (if it’s not there already)
- Add the rest of the ingredients (optionally mix in other bowl first)
- Cook on low until shreddable, about 8-10 hours
