Jeff’s Italian Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 lb pasta think bowtie or mini lasagna
 - 1 lb ground meat beef and/or Italian sausage
 - white sauce
 - red sauce
 - mozzarella cheese
 
Instructions
Prepare Red Sauce
- If you are making your own red sauce, you'll want to do this first so it can simmer for a while.
 
Cook and cool pasta.
- Boil water
 - Add noodles to water; cook 2 minutes less than directions on package
 - Pour noodles and water into a strainer.
 - Run cold water over the noodles to stop the cooking process.
 - Leave in strainer until white sauce is done.
 
Prepare Meat
- Brown your meat; set aside.
 
Prepare White Sauce
- Here you would want to make your favorite alfredo or bechamel sauce.
 
Bring it Together
- In one pan, mix meat and red sauce.
 - In another pan, mix white sauce and noodles.
 - In a 9x13 pan, layer the two mixtures until pan is full ending with red sauce.
 - Top with mozzarella
 - Bake at 375 until browned and bubbling
 
Notes
This is a simple recipe. you can even use store bought jars of sauce if you are in a hurry. The magic of this recipe lies in the mixture of white and red sauces, and how they are introduced.
