Ingredients

  • 3-4 lbs chuck roast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Accent MSG
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 4 oz Better Than Bouillon – Italian Herb Half the jar
  • 4 pickled peppers banana or pepperoncini peppers
  • 1/4 cup juice from pickled peppers
  • 2 tbsp Giardiniera optional
  • 3/4 cup red wine 1 mini bottle
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Season roast with salt and pepper.
  • Sear roast in crock pot with torch or in skillet. In the crock pot with a torch is preferred so you don’t lose any juices. The point is to create flavor with the Maillard reaction, not to cook it.
  • Place roast in crock pot (if it’s not there already)
  • Add the rest of the ingredients (optionally mix in other bowl first)
  • Cook on low until shreddable, about 8-10 hours
